Prizm is a revolutionary lens technology that greatly enhances contrast and visibility over a wide range of light conditions. They have done several versions of the Oakley Prizm lenses with each one being individually customized for a particular sport.
In the Oakley prescription programme there are three Prizm lenses available,
As Oakley have released several versions of the lens tint used in Prizm they are able to fine tune for each sport, so there really isn't any prescription lens better for your chosen sport.
Oakley have spent decades researching the science of tint colours to finely tune their lenses to maximize contrast and enhance visibility. Any light that naturally creates blurring and glare is removed / filtered by the lens, any light that helps lift contrast and improve visibility is enhanced.
This is the easiest question to answer, its simply amazing!
OK so all the usual Oakley marketing wizardry came out with the new Oakley prescription prizm lenses, as you would expect. So we took it nice and slow to see what the reaction was going to be like.
The hard core Oakley follows all came in the first week of release and with in days the reports and reviews started feeding back about how its the best lens Oakley has ever released (for Oakley followers some even said it was better than VR28 Black Iridium! )
So that was a good start, to add to this we thought we'd better get some Oakley prescription sunglasses with Prizm lenses made up for our staff who wear glasses. one set for a road cyclist and another set for a tennis player (As such Oakley have not released a Tennis Prizm lens but we used Oakley prescription prizm trail).
Due to the road being a little more open than mountain biking etc the Oakley Prizm road lenses are a little darker than the Prizm trail lenses so offer more protection in direct sunlight. However our experience showed that even at dusk / overcast conditions the lenses adequately picked up the depth perception and contrast to make potholes and hazards stand out.
Verdict: If you are after a set of lenses for the UK the Oakley prescription prizm road is the best lens on the market.
Exceptions: If only using as a sunglass / in bright conditions we still prefer a sports Oakley polarised lens.
We were torn between using Oakley Prizm Golf or Oakley Prizm trail but opted for trail for the reason that they played on both grass and concrete surfaces. From the start the Oakley Prescription Prizm trail lenses were seen to dramatically lift contrast, making the ball stand out against both backgrounds.
The player has opted to keep playing in them stating that the Prizm Trail lens tint combined with the Oakley prescription OTD technology is simply breathtaking and takes sports prescription sunglasses to a new level.
Customer: 45 years old, just at the start of requiring reading glasses.
Customer had their first prescription issued which included an addition for reading.
On analyses of the customer's prescription it was firstly evident that his current reading addition was small and cancelled his distance prescription out (so effectively they needed no prescription for reading)
This required a perfect fit from a pair of Oakley prescription sunglasses, which gave full wrap eye coverage whilst allowing the customer to look down (under the sunglasses) for reading.
The solution was a pair Oakley Flak 2.0 prescription sunglasses but with the nose pads changed to the thicker set which Oakley include with all Prescription Flak 2.0 sunglasses. This lifted the sunglasses up by around 2-3 mm which was just enough to allow the customer to peer beneath the prescription sunglasses whilst still offering protection from sunlight and glare / wind protection.
