Ski Goggles are an essential piece of kit for skiing or snowboarding. Easy for non-glasses wearers to purchase but not so much for glasses wearers who need a prescription ski goggle solution to correct their vision whilst at the same time wearing goggles to increase contrast and provide protection from wind and snow.
Traditionally you push your everyday glasses under the Ski Goggles and hope for the best. Which is uncomfortable, creating pressure on the temples of your head as the glasses dig in and also on the bridge of your nose as the glasses pads are pushed tightly into your nose.
To achieve a better wearing experience manufacturers have developed prescription ski goggles inserts which neatly clip inside the ski goggles to comfortably and safely provide the wearer with their glass's correction.
As the Ski goggle insert fits inside the goggle there is no contact with the wearer's face. The goggles are then free to fit exactly as intended by the manufacturer without a set of glasses interfering.
This also means any set of goggles can be worn, so the wearer isn’t limited to a handful of over glasses goggles and can enjoy the benefits of the top goggles features available. Such as Oakley Prizm Snow lenses.
Inserts also have numerous other advantages. Especially for contact lens wearers who can remove the insert from the Ski Goggle when wearing contact lenses.
Prescription ski goggle inserts also tend to fog up a lot less than wearing traditional glasses under the goggles, as they sit within the goggles, a little further away from the wearers face. This in turn reduces heat and moisture getting onto the prescription lenses, meaning less fogging up for the wearer.
The universal fit means they fit all traditional ski goggles. There may be exceptions where a particular goggle has been made oversized but at Extreme eyewear any order, including prescription inserts, can be returned for an exchange or refund if they are not suitable.
We could recommend the option to have Anti-fog included on the prescription lenses. This is a permanent coating which is adhered to the lens back surface. So, there is no need to carry anti-fog sprays or wipes around with you.
The further away the prescription lenses are from your face, the less fogging up happens, it's also a good choice to opt for thinner lenses in the prescription ski goggle insert. This will aid non fogging and provide the best user experience.
Note: The Anti-fog lenses automatically come in a thinner lens material.
Oakley pioneered the slops with the release of their Prizm snow technology. These lenses increase contrast and depth perception to create a new landscape ready to be conquered.
Bolle Goggles offer incredible value for money, with superior optics in the goggles and comfort features in the padding and straps to create long wearing comfort.
